we're not alone!
[edited 7 April 2006 to remove a dead link]
This is not exactly on-topic with our recent live discussions, but as we continue the process of reinvention and redefinition at the sol cafe, it's useful to have a larger context in which to place ourselves.
In that spirit, just thought I'd post the following list of 'stranger' websites that refer back to the sol cafe. We're not alone! In telling the story of the sol cafe, we mention thinking that it must really have been God who invited us all out for coffee... no surprise, he seems to have invited people everywhere!
Freeway, a like-minded church in Hamilton, Ontario
Freeway's pastor
Resonate
Resonate's Edmonton contact
a like-minded guy in Saskatchewan
the crossing, a church in Troy, Alabama
And one in British Columbia
ginkworld.net, this one you just have to visit
We even made required reading for a Leonard Sweet university course, sort of... (students have to make "weekly audits of multiple visitations of websites" from a 16-page list of websites that includes the sol cafe -- wonder what they thought?)
God is obviously doing something out there, and in here. Kind of exciting, isn't it?

Hey, thanks for the props sol cafe guy.
Again off topic, but whatever happened to "Tim from Southgate" on the schedule, or did I miss him?
What would a conference of us weirdo's (meant affectionately) look like. Look at all the locations of (how to label?) "other" christian churches. Would it be crazy to get togethor and pray, worship and hopefully talk, eat and laugh. but if anyone tries to form a new denomination they get thrown out (with love, but quickly). Maybe it's the old let's have a party portion of my personality but it could be great. Any interest out there?
Hey Joe,
Missed you at the church picnic last Sunday! "Tim from Southgate" is still on his way... just trying to find a mutually convenient time, I think. Stay tuned!
Winston
Steve the z,
I would think... perhaps hope... that such a "conference" would look pretty much the way any of our Sunday gatherings look, only bigger. Coffee, food, open minds, open hearts, some prayer, some music, lots of good conversation. And God presiding, the Holy Spirit touching all.
Seems to me we're all out there having the exact same conversation. After all, there is just the One God who invited us all out for coffee!
I'm game for a GATHERING.
Winston
