Hebrews 3:6
By way of a very, very brief history, the sol cafe was established nine years ago as a "church plant" out of Southgate Alliance Church. For the non-churchenese speakers out there, that just means a small group of people from Southgate saw the need (or was given a vision, if you want to be more mystical!) to start a new church. You can read a bit more of the story here, but from a purely organizational point of view, it means we are part of the Canadian Christian and Missionary Alliance under the "jurisdiction" of the Alliance's Western District Office.
That all said, we've spent a lot of our history happily carrying on the experiment that is the sol cafe below the radar of the District Office, which has had both its advantages and disadvantages. But it became clear over the course of our visit with Harvey that the time was right for the sol cafe to reestablish a more active relationship with the District Office and the larger Alliance church.
We'll be discussing this more at our next Sunday gathering (watch for more details coming soon!) but suffice it to say that it looks like the sol cafe is embarking on yet another new and exciting chapter of its history. Stay tuned!

I agree, it was a good meeting. I have a distinct feeling that a change of chapter is occouring at sol, this is part of our story. We could measure our history in chapters, or seasons.
As we move forward in building a relationship with Harvey and the district there is sure to be a need for understanding and to seek understanding. I am encouraged by the tone that sol cafe will be able to be true to what it is and has become, as well as being more directly linked to the body of Christ, and in this instance that means the Alliance district.
We will discuss and pray about this as a community, thanks be to God!
