The Eskimos Rule!
Following up on our trip to the Salvation Army last month, we had our second monthly "Service" service, where we undertook a bit of group worship through actions not words. This month we gathered for the modern equivalent of the church barn-raising -- helping one of our sol cafe regulars move apartments.

we know what Joe did last summer
November 20, the sol cafe hosted a "multi-media presentation" by sol cafe regular Joe Walker on his trip to the Holy Land this past summer. Joe used a series of photos from his trip along with a "synchronized interactive voice interface" to reframe our perceptions of some of the geography of the Bible, along with a discussion of the concept of "the pilgrimage" as something that requires a) the company of others, b) sacrifice, and c) some thought on the idea of just where one's home ultimately resides.

Love and Marriage - Part I
On November 6, the sol cafe gathered at Cafe Dabar to watch the nooma DVD entitled "Flame" -- one take on the book of the Bible known as the Song of Songs or the Song of Solomon. We've been discussing taking a look at relationships in the Christian context, in recognition, in part, of several newlywed couples among our regulars. For all you keeners, feel free to read over (or for the first time) Song of Songs, then take a look at this pdf of the booklet that accompanies the nooma DVD.
