a sol café manifesto

This is an attempt to capture a bit of what the sol café is all about. It will not capture everything. It won't even come close.

This is not a statement of faith. This is not a statement of vision. It's just a statement.

This is a piece of our manifesto:

we want to make the world a better place

Yeah, a cliche perhaps, like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality wishing for "world peace." But we do want to make the world a better place, by God, and it needs to be said. Loudly.

This is an important part of what a 'church' should be doing that I think many churches fail to do today. When Jesus said 'The Kingdom of God is at hand' He wasn't talking about a rapture or a millennial kingdom (not yet anyway), he was talking about Christian's making the world to be as God intended it. We shouldn't be sitting around waiting for God to make everything great, we should be out making everything great to bring our world on earth to be as God's kingdom. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We have a responsibility to make this happen; to make the world a better place, as you say.

Yes, responsability, But also privilage. "making the world a better place", that is a pretty daunting and heavy ideal, for me is well past overwhelming. My personal take is that we have the privilage and responsability as Christians to work for the good of the world, and at sol we also believe this can be fun as we work in togethor in community.
